SteveIt is a very odd animal indeed, I use Nectar 2 for processing vocals sometimes but I won't use the reverb or delay functions of it. The mono input would usually then get mixed back in at the end, assuming the plug-in provides wet/dry or mix controls. Many will simply take your mono input and send it to both of the stereo channels for processing.

It's generally used as a chain of effects, and while I haven't heard it summing to mono, I really haven't used it that much.īut many general-purpose effects are stereo in/stereo out plug-ins, so anyone who's still wondering how to use a mono-input effect with stereo outputs may want to ask about any specific plug-in he or she is having an issue with, since they don't all behave like Nectar 2. As the OP pointed out, Nectar 2 is a bit of an "odd animal", but it's also not really for general purpose effects like reverb, delay, compression, etc. The OP didn't get an answer to this on GS, but that may not matter because not all stereo effects plug-ins sum the inputs to mono before processing. The Vocal Chain Bundle and Music Production Suite 2 include even more time-saving restorative features. RX 7 Breath Control is designed to detect breaths in audio recordings and make them disappear, reducing time spent in the comping and editing stage. I'm not really sure the best place to insert a plugin like this into the mixing chain.Īnyone else use Nectar 2 or other mono-in/stereo-out plugins? What's the approach? Nectar 3 comes bundled with the magic of RX, the standard for audio cleanup and restoration. This plugin sounds good but is a bit of an "odd animal". What if I don't WANT the vocal centered? I could post-pan the stereo output but then the reverb and delay is getting panned too!
#Izotope nectar 3 only right speaker works pro
Nectar 2 works as plug-ins in popular hosts like Pro Tools, Cubase. Any panning that has been applied is wiped out - the vocal moves to center. IZOTOPE NECTAR 2 PRODUCTION SUITE - Bring a vocal track to life with the only. If used on a stereo vocal track the plugin mixes the left/right inputs. If used on a mono vocal track the stereo delay and reverb effects, as you would expect, come out mono. So there is a mix of formats WITHIN the plugin. The mono input is likely required for the pitch correction and harmonizer modules - but then the subsequent delay and reverb modules produce stereo outputs. With fourteen core components that directly address vocal mixing in one package. I have discovered that it's a bit unique in that it requires a mono input and produces a stereo output. Nectar 3 addresses every part of working with vocals after recording.

I have been experimenting with the demo version of Izotope's Nectar 2 vocal processing plugin.
